At Back to Back Chiropractic, we specialize in manual treatment, including soft tissue mobilization used to restore flexibility and mobility to a normal range. We are now proud to include The Voodoo Band as a valuable tool to assist us in our goal.
The Voodoo Band is a latex rubber compression band that can be wrapped around problematic areas to mobilize tissue, and in most cases, result in an immediate increase in range of motion and a decrease in pain.
The Voodoo Band is still being researched for its immediate benefits with minimal side effects, but so far we have seen improvement with its use in four major areas.
- Adhesions can limit flexibility and range of motion. When we use the Voodoo Band to wrap a muscle or soft tissue, we are forcing the movement of one layer of tissue on another. Active and passive manipulation can then be applied, breaking up adhesions and increasing flexibility and range of motion.
- Compression Therapy is used to flush out waste product and supply nutrients and hormones to the area, giving pain relief. The Voodoo Band is used to compress an area enough to reduce blood flow, then unwrapped quickly, causing a flood of blood flow back into the area.
- Joint wrapping can assist in keeping the joint in a healthy position to both assist in treatment, as well as to train, or reinforce a healthy pattern of joint movement.
- In some cases, pain relief can be achieved by tightly wrapping The Voodoo Band. This will give the skin a sensation of pressure and of being stretched, causing a slight sensation of pain which in turn can override and block the pain signal, providing pain relief and increased movement, to the effected area.
